# Privacy

Signal Grid is a set of static files answered by a web server. There is nothing here to sign into,
nothing that takes typed input, and nothing that follows a reader from one page to the next. A visit
leaves one trace, the line the server writes while it hands over a file, and that line is deleted
after 14 days.

## What this site does not run

- No analytics. No counter, no tag manager, no pixel, no session recorder, no measurement script
  of any description.
- No cookie is set by these pages, which is why no banner asks a reader about one.
- No account, no sign-in, no comment box, no newsletter field, no wallet connection. Nothing here
  accepts input, so there is no form the site could store.
- No advertising identifier, and no advertising slot filled by another company.
- No counter shared with any other site. Nothing about a visit here reaches another address, and
  no identifier used here can be read anywhere else.
- Nothing is fetched from elsewhere while a page draws. Both typefaces are served from this
  domain, and every chart is drawn in the page from the figures printed beside it rather than
  loaded as a picture. A page that has finished loading has spoken to one address, this one.

Placement on this site is paid for, and the arrangement is set out on [About](/about). It is paid
in money and in advance, never in what a reader leaves behind here. Links to a venue's own
documentation are plain links to the address quoted in the source line, with nothing appended to
mark where a reader came from.

## The one line the server keeps

A web server records a line for each file it sends: the requesting network address, the moment of
the request, the page asked for, the answer code and its size, the description the browser sends
about itself, and the page a reader arrived from when the browser offers one. Any static site
produces it, and none can be kept running without it — a page broken by a deploy shows up there
first, and so does a crawler asking for the same address several thousand times an hour.

Those lines are kept for 14 days and then deleted when the log turns over. Nothing is lifted out
of them first. No visitor record is built, no address list is kept, and the lines are neither
sold, nor shared for marketing, nor passed to another company to process, nor joined to anything
held elsewhere.

## Mail sent to the desk

One address is published here, editorial@ellsworthvane.com, and a disputed figure goes to it.
Mail lands in a plain inbox that the editorial team reads itself.

The message and the address it came from stay there while the figure is checked, and afterwards
as the record of why a page changed on the day it changed. That is the whole use. Nothing taken
from correspondence joins a mailing list, because this site runs none, and none of it is passed
on. Ask at the same address to see what is still held from an earlier exchange, or to have it
deleted.

## If any of this stops being true

This page carries the date it was last accurate, and that date sits under the heading, in the
page's structured data and in the sitemap, the same three places as every other page here. Should
a counter, a form or anything served from a third address ever appear on this site, this page is
rewritten the day it appears and the date moves with it. Anyone who wants to test the claim can
read the page source and watch which addresses a browser contacts while it loads.
